SURVEY ON THE INSOMNIA OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE STUDENTS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN 2021

Abstract

Background: Insomnia is a common clinical condition in Vietnam and around the world. Surveying the insomnia status of traditional medicine students during the COVID-19 pandemic has a sign warning about students' health problems, which is the basis for promoting schools and society to pay more attention to their medical students. Objective: To determine the rate of traditional medicine students who have insomnia using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale (PSQI) and learn some factors related to insomnia. Materials and methods: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study with all students of traditional medicine studving at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Results: Out of a total of 453 students, 73,3% of them have insomnia (PSQI>5). The relationship between insomnia and factors such as stimulant use, sleeping space, and use of electronic devices has not been determined, but there is a relationship between insomnia and the current COVID-19 pandemic situation developments (p<0.05). Conclusion: The rate of traditional medicine students at Can Tho Universitv of Medicine and Pharmacy with insomnia is high during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
