Abstract

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic seriously affected the health of people around the world. Vaccination against Covid-19 is a safe and reliable way to generate antibodies against SARSCoV-2 virus, which helps to reduce morbidity and risk of severe illness. Vietnam has administered fourth doses of Covid-19 vaccine to people, but there have not been many studies on Covid-19 antibody levels, especially in patients with chronic kidney disease.. Objectives: To evaluate levels of antibodies after four weeks and six months of 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine and some related factors in chronic kidney disease patients ≥60 years old undergoing hemodialysis. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with longitudinal follow-up 33 patients ≥60 years old and 30 patients <60 years old with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis at Can

Tho General hospital, after 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine, from July 2022 to April 2023. Results:

The mean age of the study group was 66.8±6.5 years old, the dialysis vintage was 4.7 years. Antibody levels after four weeks of injection 4 were 12723.0 [6759.0-16861.0] (AU/mL), after six months decreased to 5628.0 [2976.0-9733.0] (AU/mL), p<0.05. All patients had an immune response after receiving 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine. After 6 months, 87.9% of patients ≥60 years old had a decrease in antibody levels. Patients with more comorbidities had lower antibody levels than those with fewer comorbidities. Conclusions: Patients with ESRD ≥60 years old had a good immune response after receiving 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine. History of multiple comorbidities was associated with significant decline in antibody levels after 6 months.
