SURVEY OF THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON MEDICAL STUDENTS DURING THE 4th OUTBREAK IN 2021

Abstract

Background: The 4th COVID-19 outbreak in 2021 has caused great impacts on students around the world, including Vietnam as well as medical students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, understanding this influence, help offer solutions to improve students' lives. Objectives: To survey on the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the health, spirit and learning process of students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2021. Materials and methods: The study crossed 1295 medical students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Results: In terms of learning: 93.5% of students were affected by COVID-19. In terms of entertainment, over 34.4% of students chose to greatly affect entertainment activities. over 34.4% of students chose to greatly affect entertainment activities. Mentally, the percentage of students who felt anxious was 94%. The factors of the student system including regular students and transfer students were related to the impact on learning (41.8% in regular students, 49.7% in transfer students) and academic spirit (41.2% in regular students, 53.9% in transfer students), the rate of influence on transfer students was higher than that of regular students. Conclusions: The 4th COVID-19 outbreak greatly affected learning and spirit; does not affect much in the fields of entertainment and health of students; these influences affect interconnected students more than regular students.
