CLINICAL FEATURES, RELATED FACTORS AND EVALUATE OF TINEA PEDIS TREATMENT RESULTS WITH TERBINAFINE AT CAN THO DERMATO-VENEREOLOGY HOSPITAL IN 2019-2020

Abstract

  Background: Tinea pedis is a popular disease that makes patients itchy and uncomfortable, causing difficulties in daily life and affecting health. Terbinafine 1% is an antifungal drug of the allylamine group, it has a good effect on tinea pedis patients. In Vietnam, there are few studies about the results of tinea pedis using terbinafine and side effects of the drug. Therefore, it is really necessary to evaluate of tinea pedis treatment results with terbinafine. Objective: Describe clinical features, related factors and evaluate the results of tinea pedis using terbinafine at Can Tho hospital of dermato-venereology 2020-2021. Materials and methods: A cross – sectional study with analysis. A total of 140 patients tinea pedis participated in the study at Can Tho Dermato-Venereology Hospital. Results: 140 patients with tinea pedis: 60.7% male and 39.3% female, average age is 34.84±13.91 years, functional symptoms: 81.4% itching, 43.6% increased sweating, 16.4% pain, the basic lesions: 93.6% red inlaid, 69.3% skin scales,60.0% blisters,30.7% cracked, 20.0% lesion area >400cm2, the severity of the disease was on average 64.3%; there is an association between tinea pedis with habit of playing sports, habit of wearing shoes, socks and increased sweating. After 4 weeks, the results of tinea pedis using terbinafine are good at 81.4%, average at 18.6% and 0.0% least. Conclusion: Terbinafine is effective in treating tinea pedis.
