THE CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RESULTS OF MEDICAL ABORTION ON 9 WEEKS' PREGNANCY IN WOMEN WITH PREVIOUS CESAREAN SECTION AT CAN THO GYNECOLOGY AND OBSTERTRICS HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Every year around the world there are 20-22 million cases are unsafe abortions (98% in developing countries), unwanted pregnancy in women with previous cesarean section increases when the rate of caesarean section rises. Therefore, medical abortion S a method to terminate a pregnancy with drugs that cause a miscarriage without a surgical procedure and can limit complications of surgical abortion on uterus with previous caesarean scar. Objective: To study the clinical characteristics and results of medical abortion on 9 weeks' pregnancy in women with previous cesarean section. Materials and methods: All pregnant women with previous cesarian section, having unwanted pregnancy of less than or equal to 9 weeks at, Can Tho Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from 3/2019 to 5/2020. Result: The success rate was 95.7%. Mean bleeding time was 8.63 ± 3.95 days. The age group 30-39 years old accounts for the highest rate of 60%, 6weeks gestational age accounts for the highest rate of 36.5%. Side effects of oral misoprostol: nausea (74.8%), vomitting (3.5%) diarrhea (3.5%), chill (1.7%), abdominal painfulness (1.7%). Conclusion: Medical abortion with mifepristone and misoprostol is safe and effective for women with previous caesarean section.
