Abstract
Background: Dental conditions involving jaw bone abnormalities are widely encountered, and self-healing is not possible. Surgical intervention is commonly employed for their treatment. Objectives: To investigate the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and evaluate the surgical results of patients with maxillary anterior maxillary cyst curettage with allogeneic bone grafts combined with platelet-rich plasma covered with dermis. at Can Tho Eye and Dental Maxillo facial hopital, 2022-2023. Materials and methods: A prospective, cross-sectional descriptive study with intervention on 36 patients diagnosed with maxillary cysts due to inflammation of the upper anterior teeth at the Can Tho Eye and Dental Maxillo facial hopital, in 2022-2023. Results: 58.3% of patients participating in the study were female; “Incisor pain” was the main reason for hospitalization (58.3%). Clinical features: the most common functional symptom was pain (80.5%); cyst in the anterior position of the left maxillary accounted for 50%; 33.3% of patients had bulging bones; 11.1% of patients had signs of plastic ball; a total of 91.7% of patients showed signs of infection. Paraclinical characteristics: 100% of patients had single-cavity cysts; 88.9% of patients did not have loss of neighboring teeth; 100% of patients had periapical cyst classification; 8/36 (22.2%) patients recorded cortical perforation based on CT Cone Beam results. Postoperative results: 100% of patients were classified as good after surgery and no patient had any signs of swelling, bleeding, infection, numbness, or pain at all 3 times of 1 week, 3 months and 6 months. Conclusion: The most common features of mandibular cysts are single-cavity. Treatment of mandibular cysts achieved absolute results with 100% of patients recovering well after 6 months of surgery.
