KNOWLEDGE ABOUT 5S AND SOME RELATED FACTORS TO 5S KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICAL STAFF AT SOME DISTRICT HOSPITALS, CAN THO CITY IN 2022

Abstract
Background: Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke (5S) is the foundation of lean health care. Currently, 5S is applied to the healthcare sector as a method of organization and standardization in hospitals. Objectives: To determine the 5S response rate and analyze some related factors to 5S knowledge of medical staff at District Hospitals in Can Tho city. Materials and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 164 health workers currently working at two district hospitals in Can Tho City in 2022. The surveys were conducted online via Google Form; survey and evaluation criteria using the 5S checklist of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Results: The percentage of health workers with correct knowledge about 5S reached 55.5%, and the Seito and Seiri factors reached 66.46% and 48.78%, respectively. The related factors to the percentage of 5S knowledge achieved were gender, age group, and field of work. Men had 5S knowledge equal to 0.43 times compared of women. 5S knowledge in the age group of 40-49 years old was 7.22 times higher than in the group under 30. Health workers in medical examination and treatment with 5S knowledge reached 1.96 times compared to administrative staff. Conclusions: It is necessary to enhance 5S knowledge for health workers. 5S improvement solutions need to focus on administrative staff under 30 years old and the group of Seiri criteria.
