THE EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT 5S AND SOME RELATED FACTORS TO 5S PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AT CAN THO CITY GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2021

Abstract

Background: The 5S management method is a systematic form of visual management that deals with the organization's cleanliness and maximizing the system and profits. Can Tho General Hospital is currently implementing a quality management system. The 5S knowledge of medical staff has not been evaluated. Objectives: To evaluate 5S knowledge and some factors to the 5S practice of health workers at Can Tho General Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 96 health workers currently working at Can Tho GeneralHospital in June 2021. The study used JICA's 5S checklist with 37 contents and 6 points for evaluation. Results: The percentage of health workers with correct knowledge of 5S was 87.5%, the highest in cleanliness (90.63%) and the lowest in “Seiri” (82.3%). Men have a gap of 5S knowledge as high as 0.07 times higher than that of women; Health workers in the administrative field have a gap in 5S knowledge 0.23 times higher than health workers in the medical examination field treatment. Conclusions: Strengthening the dissemination of knowledge about 5S for health workers, focusing on the screening “Seiri” and the group of health workers in the administrative field.
