THE CURRENT SITUATION OF USING DISPOSABLE PLASTIC PRODUCTS OF PEOPLE IN A TOWN IN BINH TAN DISTRICT, VINH LONG PROVINCE AND SOME RELATED FACTORS IN 2022

Abstract
Background: Disposable plastic products are commonly used in daily life. However, it is also a source of serious pollution to the environment. In the new economic towns, the problem of pollution caused by the use of single-use plastic products becomes more and more serious. Objectives: The study was carried out to evaluate the current situation of using single-use plastic products by people in a town in Binh Tan district, Vinh Long province in 2022. Materials and methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted on 408 people living in the town using a set of pre-prepared questionnaires. Data were entered using EpiData 3.1 software and analyzed using SPSS 22.0 software Results: Out of a total of 408 people participating in the study, 42.4% of people practice correct use of single-use plastic products. Factors affecting practice include: marital status (OR=2.072), income (OR=1.66) and people's knowledge (OR=0.58). However, the relationship between people's attitude and practice has not been found; as well as other factors Conclusions: People's correct practice of using single-use plastic products is not high. The main factors related to the practice come from individual townspeople (knowledge, marital status).
