Abstract

Background: Phacoemulsification is also indicated with refractive purposes more frequently nowadays. The Acrysof PanOptix TFNT00 is a trifocal IOL model launched, whose design is aimed at improving intermediate vision tasks, for increased patient satisfaction. Objectives: To evaluate clinical outcomes after the implantation of a multifocal intraocular lenses AcrySof IQ PanOptix TFNT00 for cataract treatment. Material and method: A prospective noncomparative interventional study. A total of 41 patients (45 eyes) diagnosed with cataracts and indicated for phaco surgery were enrolled in the study. All patients underwent phaco surgery with AcrySof IQ PanOptix trifocal TFNT00 IOL implantation at Can Tho Eye - Odonto Stomatology Hospital from August 2022 to March 2023. Results: The IOL was implanted in 45 eyes of 41 patients, mean age was 52.26 ± 12.02. The mean uncorrected distance visual acuity improved from 1.16 ± 0.64 logMAR to 0.17 ± 0.16 and 0.13 ± 0.16 logMAR at 1 month and 3 months, respectively (p < 0.01). The mean uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (60 cm) was 0.13 ± 0.10 logMAR at 1 month and 0.11 ± 0.10 logMAR at 3 months, respectively (p < 0.01). The mean uncorrected near vision acuity (40 cm) at 1 month and 3 months were 0.03 ± 0.14 and 0.02 ± 0.13 logMAR, respectively (p < 0.01). Glare, starburst, hazy vision and watery sensation are common visual disturbances, these patients blink to lose these unpleasant sensations. All patients were satisfied and very satisfied with the near and intermediate visual acuity results. More than 91.1% of patients were satisfied with the outcome of distance vision. Spectacle independence at all distances for all 4 patients were implanted PanOptix in both eyes. Conclusion: This IOL provided excellent visual outcomes at all distances, including intermediate and near, leading to high levels of patient satisfaction and spectacle independence.
