THE SITUATION AND THE RESULTS OF IMPLEMENTING THE QUALITY STANDARDS ASSESSMENT OF SURGERY SAFETY BY DECISION 7482/QD-BYT OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH (VIETNAM) AT AN GIANG CENTRAL GENERRAL HOSPITAL IN 2020-2021

Abstract
Background: Ensuring patient safety and surgical safety (SS) are vital goals of the Vietnamese health system when it comes to patient-centered service. Objectives: 1) To find out some related factors to the implementation of the set of quality criteria to assess surgical safety according to Decision 7482/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health at An Giang Central General Hospital. 2) To evaluate the implementation results of the Quality Criteria for the evaluation of surgical safety according to Decision 7482/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health in surgical patients at An Giang Central General Hospital in 2020-2021. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on all surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses participated in surgeries at An Giang Central General Hospital and surgical team performed the elective operations in all patients at An Giang Center General Hospital 2020-2021. Results: Factors affecting surgical safety performance accounted for >90%. The performance results of the set of surgical safety quality criteria reached 100 points/110 benchmarks, level 5, ensuring high safety. Conclusions: Most health staff are aware of the factors that affected surgical safety performance. The Ministry of Health checklist of surgical safety criteria is complied with and achieves a high level of safety. In addition, An Giang Central General Hospital needs to complete a number of unsatisfactory subsections to ensure surgical safety at the highest level.
