Abstract

Background: Pulp diseases have become a common problem that requires complicated treatment. Objectives: To describe the clinical and laboratory features of molar having pulp diseases. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study included 37 molars with pulp diseases. Results: The ratio of men to women was 1:1, most of the patients were between 20-45 years old; the number of the first and second maxillary molars, the first and second mandibular molars was 10, 8, 12, 7 respectively; all of the patients had pain symptom, 75.7% of them had large cavities; features of pain symptoms: most of the cases were spontaneous (75.7%), prolonged (73%), VAS score was 7 (73%); 83.8% of electrical test was positive; X-ray films: large caries were recorded in 28 cases (75.7%), large restorations were recorded in 7 cases (18.9%); the number of root canals of the first, second maxillary molars, first and second mandibular molars was respectively 4, 3, 3, 3 and most of these canals were narrow. Conclusion: The main symptom of pulp diseases was spontaneous and prolonged pain, VAS score was 7 with a positive electrical test; the number of root canals was 3 in most cases and the canals were usually narrow. X-ray: large cavities and old restorations were possibly recorded.
