THE RESULTS OF TREATMENT THE LOWER MOLARS IN ELDERLY AT THE CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE HOSPITAL AND THONG NHAT HOSPITAL IN HO CHI MINH CITY IN 2020

Abstract
Background: Endodontic treatment in the elderly has been facing many difficulties and the need for endodontic treatment in the elderly has been increasingly concerned. Objectives: To evaluate the results of endodontic treatment of the lower molars in elderly patients people with non-surgical endodontic treatment. Materials and methods: A descriptive study on 49 elderly patients with endodontic treatment of lower molar from May 2020 to September 2020 at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Data were analyzed by the Chi-square test, Fisher exact test, student t-test and ANOVA. Results: 40.8% male, 59.2% female, no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). The mean age was 67.9 ± 6.0. The 60–70 age group accounted for 69.4%. Group age >70 accounted for 30.6%. The difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant (p<0.05). Tooth decay was the main cause of the disease 61.2% (p<0.05). Most group pulpitis responded with 73.3% of burned trials. One-time treatment accounted for the largest proportion of 47.0% (p<0.05). Results of treatment after 1 week of filling, depending on the condition: After 1 week, the result at 83.7% was good. After 3 months, the success rate was 85.7%. Conclusion: Reaching 83.7% after 1 week, the research had good results. The success rate was 85.7% after 3 months of treatment.
