ANXIETY AND RELATED FACTORS AMONG PATIENTS UNDERGOING BRONCHOSCOPY AT RESPIRATORY DEPARTMENT, THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Bronchoscopy is a technique, which was used frequently and importantly in diagnosis and treatment some respiratory systems disease. Anxiety is a common symptom among patient undergoing bronchoscopy. Objective: To describe anxiety level of patient undergoing bronchoscopy at Respiratory Department, Thai Nguyen National Hospital and identify related factor of anxiety among patient undergoing bronchoscopy at Respiratory Department, Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Materials and methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in 82 patients undergoing bronchoscopy at Respiratory Department, Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Results: Average level of stress of patient undergoing bronchoscopy accounted for the highest proportion, about 43.9% and severity level was 17.1%. Average level of anxiety of patient undergoing bronchoscopy was the highest percentage, accounted for 47.6% and severity level was 12.2%. Patient with lung cancer, dyspnea, chest pain symptom, experienced bronchoscopy, staff no fully explained before undergoing bronchoscopy and without caregiver increased anxiety among patients undergoing bronchoscopy. Conclusion: Most of patients before undergoing bronchoscopy have average and severity anxiety level. Patient with lung cancer, dyspnea, chest pain symptom, experienced bronchoscopy, staff fully explained before undergoing bronchoscopy and without caregiver was related factors of anxiety among patients undergoing bronchoscopy.
