THE INTERVENTION RESULTS OF COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL COMMUNICATION WITH TAKING VITAMIN C ON OVER 35-YEAR- OLD PEOPLE WITH HYPERURICEMIA IN CA MAU PROVINCE

Abstract

Background: Currently, the hyperuricemia is increasing rapidly in the community. Studies showed that some diseases like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and some factors such as drinking alcohol, eating red meat, dry food, animal viscera are considered as risk factors for increasing blood uric acid levels; oppositely, the doing exercise and eating lots of green vegetables, fruits that reduce blood uric acid levels. Objectives: To evaluate the intervention effect of the educational communication with vitamin C  to reduce blood uric acid levels on over 35-year-old people with hyperuricemia in Ca Mau province. Materials and methods: A controlled community intervention on 255 people with hyperuricemia from 6/2017 to 6/2018. These subjets are divided into 3 groups: control group, health education communication group and education communication and vitamin C group. Results: After 12 months, the rate  of hyperuricemia have reduced from 100% to 69.51% in education communication group and 64.43% in education communication combined using vitamin C group, compared with 93.24% in control group. The blood uric acid levels have reduced 0.39mg/dl in education communication group and 0.75mg/dl in education combined using vitamin C group, compared to control group. Conclusion: The intervention have had effected to reduce blood uric acid levels in studies people with hyperuricemia. The combination of using vitamine C with education communication have more effected than others group.
