CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND IMMEDIATELY EVALUATION AFTER CEMENTATION OF ENDOCROWN FOR ENDODONTICALLY TREATED LOWER MOLARS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL

Abstract

Background: A suitable restoration for endodontically treated teeth remains a controversial topic. Endocrown is monolithic ceramic adhesive restoration with pulp chamber’s preparation that does not extend into the root canals. However, there has been currently very little research on this type of prosthesis. Objectives: To describe clinical characteristics of the endodontically treated lower molars before and after preparation and the results of immediately evaluation after cemmentation of endocrown treatment for these teeth at the Can Tho University Hospital. Materials and methods: a cross-sectional study on 20 lower molars that had endodontic at the Can Tho University Hospital from August 2020 to December 2020. The information about age, gender, teeth anatomy after preparation, colour match, marginal adaptation, the satisfy of patients with  three criterias in the baseline: color match, morphology and comfort of treatment. Restorations were performed with lithium disilicate porcelain material with CAD/CAM technique and assessed by the modified US Public Health Service criteria (USPHS). Data were processed using Stata 14.0. Results: 45% of patients participating in the study were male. After preparation, the average of the pulp chamber's diameter is 4.6 ± 0.72mm, the depth of the pulp chamber is 5.38 ± 1.07mm and the average thickness of the occlusal surface is 2.28 ± 0.62mm. 100% of restorations had grade A of the colour match and marginal adaptation criteria. 100% of patients feel very satisfied with the results of treatment in the baseline in three criterias: color match, morphology and comfort of treatment. Conclusion: Endocrown was a minimally invasive and effective method to treat molars with endodontic treatment.
