CERVICAL CYTOLOGY TRANSITION RATE IN CAN THO CITY FROM 2013 TO 2020

Abstract
Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common genital cancers and the fourth among causes of death in women. Regular screening can help reduce risks by 90%. Objectives: The study was designed to determine PAP, VIA, pathology abnormal rate and PAP and VIA transition rates in women in Can Tho city from 2013 to 2020. Materials and methods: Prospective cohort study. Interviews, gynecological examinations and PAP, VIA, anapath testing were used to collect data for the study in 2018 and 2020. The results were recorded and compared with those of PAP, VIA in 2013 to assess the development of VIA, PAP over time: Transition included conversion to VIA/ PAP positive state. No transition included clearance of VIA/PAP and the results remained negative or positive. At the same time, determine rate of PAP, VIA, abnormal anapath in 2018 and 2020. Results: With the sample size of 225 caese in 2018; and 213 cases in 2020, the average age in the study was 49.6 ± 10.5 years old, of which age group ≥ 45 years old is the highest rate 62.4%; 85% of women were living with their husbands, while 5.6% of them were divorced, and women who lived away from their husbands due to work accounted for 3.3%. After following 7 years (2013–2020), Abnormal rate of PAP was 3.8%; VIA was 19.7%; abnormal anapath was 2.8%. The rate of change in the bad direction of PAP was 3.3%; of VIA was 16.3%. Conclusions: There is cervical cytology transition over time.
