THE PREVALENCE AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS OF VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY AT NEPHROLOGY CLINIC OF HOAN MY CUU LONG HOSPITAL IN 2020-2021

Abstract
Background: Vitamin D has been shown to be directly related to the progression of chronic kidney disease complications. In Vietnam, there are very few studies on vitamin D and related factors in this patient population are also rarely studied. Objectives: 1/ Investigating the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency, 2 / Investigating factors related to vitamin D deficiency in type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients. Materials and methods: A prospective descriptive study of 31 type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients who visited the Nephrology Clinic. These patients divided into 2 groups: 25(OH)D deficiency and insufficiency (<30nmol/L and ≥ 30nmol/L). Using χ2, Ttest, ANOVA, linear regression. Results: 31 patients with mean age 71.94 ± 11.9; female 67.7%. Vitamin D deficiency were evident in 67.7% cases; 25(OH)D associated with age (p=0.03; OR 0.55; CI 95%=0.37-0.8) and serum albumin <3.5g/L (p=0.046; OR 8.2; CI 95%=0.87-76.58). Linear regression analysis showed that 25(OH)D deficiency had positive correlations with age, hemoglobin, albumin and eGFR, had negative correlations with total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDLc. Conclusion: Type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients with 25(OH)D deficiency comprise a high percentage. Hyperlipidemia, lower hemoglobin and albumin level are changeable risk factors.
