Abstract
Background: Overactive Bladder (OAB) is a common urological syndrome that, although not directly life-threatening, significantly impacts the quality of life. Mirabegron is one of the currently recommended medical treatments. Objectives: 1. To investigate the clinical and subclinical characteristics of patients diagnosed with overactive bladder at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from 2025 to 2026. 2. To evaluate the treatment outcomes of Mirabegron for overactive bladder at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from 2025 to 2026. Materials and methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 31 patients diagnosed with OAB, indicated for Mirabegron treatment (dose of 50mg/day), and re-evaluated after 4 weeks of treatment at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from June 2025 to June 2026. Results: The distribution was concentrated in the young and middle-aged groups, with a female predominance over males. The most common symptoms were urinary urgency (80.6%) and urinary frequency (74.2%). The majority of patients had mild severity (OAB-SS: 1-5 points: 87.1%) and a low impact on quality of life (QoL: 1-2 points: 77.4%). After treatment with Mirabegron, significant improvement was achieved, with the average decrease in OAB-SS and QoL scores being 1.84±1.42 points and 0.68±0.70, respectively. Conclusion: Overactive bladder in the study group was generally of mild severity, manifesting primarily as urinary urgency and frequency. Mirabegron is a highly effective treatment in reducing symptoms and significantly improving the patients' quality of life.
