Abstract

 Background: Colorectal polyp is a common lower gastrointestinal disease. The progression of colorectal polyps is complicated, with the potential to progress to cancer. Colorectal endoscopy helps diagnose exactly the shape, position, size of polyps and intervene endoscopic polypectomy. Objectives: To describe the clinical, endoscopic and pathological characteristics of colorectal polyps. To evaluate the treatment results of endoscopic polypectomy with prophylactic clip in patients having colorectal polyps with ≥10mm. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out of 72 patients with colorectal polyps. All patients with clinical characteristics of colorectal polyps with ≥10mm were indicated colonscopy for viewing enodoscopic characteristics, performing endoscopic polypectomy and taking polyp samples for pathological examination. Results: Abdominal pain and disorder of defecation were the most common symptoms. The percentage were 20.3% polyps in the rectum. There were 73.6% neoplasia polyps and 69.4% cases of dysplasia of which. The result showed that there were 93.1% of patients who underwent polypectomies and no complication. Conclusion: We recorded that patients with colorectal polyps usually had nonspecific symptoms, a large number of polyps were neoplasia and in rectum. The treatment of colorectal polyps by endoscopic polypectomy with prophylactic clip was achieved high successful result.
