THE CLINICAL FEATURES OF SYRINGOMA AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL IN 2018-2020

Abstract

Background: Syringoma is a benign tumor due to the overgrowth of sweat gland cells. Although the disease is not life-threatening, it has a cosmetic and psychological effect on the patients. In the world, syringoma has been studied by many authors about clinical characteristics and treatments, but in Viet Nam there has not been many researchs on this disease. Objectives: To describe the clinical features of syringoma who came to Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Subjects and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 65 syringoma patients. Results: patients in the age group of 30-39 accounted for 41.5%, mean age is 39.03±10.19. 90.8% of patients were female, the sex ratio was approximately 10/1. The lesions were located in lower eyelids (40%), the color lesions similar to normal skin color had highest percentage (55.4%), most of them had the lesions size ranged from 1 to 3mm2 (49.2%), 585.5% of lesions were discreted papules and 56.9% of patients were mild. Conclusions: Syringoma is a common disease especially in women with the age of 30-39 years and it is easy to diagnose based on the clinical features.
