HOSPITAL-ACQUIRED INFECTIONS SITUATION AT ANESTHESIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF TAY NINH GENERAL HOSPITAL, 2019-2020

Abstract
Background: Surgical patients are one of the subjects most at risk of hospital-acquired infections. Many studies around the world show that if correctly adhering to preventive procedures before, during and after surgery, 50% of surgical site infections can be prevented. Objectives: (1) Identify types of medical interventions at Department of Anesthesiology, Tay Ninh General Hospital, 2019-2020. (2) Determine the rate of hospital-acquired infections at Department of Anesthesiology, Tay Ninh General Hospital, 2019-2020. Materials and methods: The study used a cross sectional method described on 1440 patients who were being treated at Department of Anesthesiology, Tay Ninh General Hospital from March 2019 to March 2020. Results: 1440 patients were included in the study, rate of patients with type II surgery was 52.1%, type I 44.7%; type of clean incision accounted for 97.0%, clean infection was 2.6%, infection was 0.3% and dirty was 0.1%. Rate of catheterization was 87.2%, central venous catheterization was 0.5%, tracheostomy was 0.4%, endotracheal intubation was 34.2%, gastric catheterization was 3.3% and 27.0% of phlegm suction. 3.1% of patients infected with hospital-acquired infections, in which, the proportion of Gram positive bacteria accounted for 25.0%, the negative Gram was 13.6% and the other was 61.4%. Conclusion: The rate of surgery and procedures mainly belongs to types I and II; catheterization, endotracheal intubation, and phlegm suction are the three main procedures. The rate of hospital-acquired infections at Department of Anesthesiology, Tay Ninh General Hospital is high and most of Gram positive bacteria.
