Abstract

Background: Mental health is an important problem, and it may seriously impact daily life and work. The mental health status of medical staff directly influences the quality of medical service and patient safety. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of depression, anxiety, stress and their related factors of medical staff in Kien Giang in 2019. Materials and method: A cross-sectional study was applied in this study. Data were collected through filling interview questionnaires by the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS 21) scale with 670 medical staff in Kien Giang were surveyed from January 2019 to December 2019. Results: The rates of depression, anxiety, stress in medical staff in Kien Giang were 13.9%, 26.0% and 15.1%. There were four levels include mild, moderate, severe and high – severe: depression (5.8%, 5.5%, 1.5%, 1.0%), anxiety (7.3%, 11.3%, 4.0%, 3.3%) and stress (6.6%, 5.5%, 2.1%, 0.9%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified sharp object injuries associated with depression, anxiety, stress. Conclusion: Depression, anxiety, stress in medical staff in Kien Giang is the mental health problem that should continue to be concern for mitigation.
