Abstract

Background: An acute coronary syndrome is a serious and urgent event of coronary artery disease. Blood levels of neutrophil gelatinase-binding lipocalin (NGAL), N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) have predictive value for cardiovascular events and mortality in patients with acute coronary syndromes. Objectives: Determination of the rate of major cardiovascular events and predictability of major cardiovascular events of serum NGAL, NTproBNP levels in patients with acute coronary syndromes. Materials and methods: patients were diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome at the Department of Interventional Cardiology – Neurology, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Results: The proportion of patients with dyspnea accounted for 62.7%, men accounted for 51%, chest pain accounted for 98. Model ROC curve value in predicting mortality Model 1: 0.28 * troponin T-hs + 0.55 * NGAL (with AUC value of 0.76); Model 2: 0.56 * NGAL + 0.27 * troponin T-hs + 0.17 *CRP-hs (with AUC value 0.85). Conclusion: Quantification of serum NGAL, NT-proBNP levels at hospital admission to predict cardiovascular events and mortality in patients with ACS. Thereby helping clinicians to have appropriate proactive and preventive treatment strategies.
