Abstract

When giving a diagnosis, Traditional medicine students usually want to identify clearly which of the ‘eight principles’ that a medical condition has, for example, exterior syndrome - interior syndrome, cold syndrome - heat syndrome, deficiency syndrome - excess syndrome. However, not any case could be simply diagnosed as exterior syndrome only, or interior syndrome only, heat syndrome only, or cold syndrome only, deficiency syndrome only, or excess syndrome only. In fact, lots of medical conditions are the combination of the exterior syndrome and interior syndrome, heat syndrome and cold syndrome, deficiency syndrome and excess syndrome, or even could not be diagnosed with an exterior syndrome, or interior syndrome, cold syndrome, or heat syndrome. Thus, the students are often difficult to practice diagnosing the clinical ‘eight principles’. This article is written to help the students diagnosing the clinical ‘exterior syndrome and interior syndrome’ accurately.
