THE UTILITY OF IMPULSE OSCILLOMETRY IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF ASTHMA IN AN GIANG CENTER GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Backgrounds: Asthma is considered one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood, early diagnosis of asthma is necessary. The impulse oscillometry (IOS) was evaluated as a new technique for the assessment of airflow obstruction, a helpful outcome measurement for early intervention of asthma. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the utility of IOS in the diagnosis of asthma. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study. The sample size of 90 patients visited the Respiratory Clinic of An Giang Center Hospital was from January 2020 to September 2020. Results: Average age 37 ± 4.3, minimum patient age 18 years, largest age 67 years. The female 49 makes up 53.3%. Male was 43, accounting for 46.7%. Results fluctuated in the diagnosis of bronchial asthma with sensitivity 91,1%, Specificity 88,8%, Positive predictive value 89.3%, negative predictive value 90.9%. Conclusion: IOS is a useful diagnostic tool in early asthma with sensitivity 91,1% and Specificity 88,8%
