ACTIVITIES OF MEDICINE INFORMATION, MEDICINE INFORMATION NEEDS OF MEDICAL STAFFS AT CAN THO GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Background: Drug information (DI) is in the field of clinical pharmacy, DI is available in many forms, in printed form as well as electronic archives, so it is more accessible, doctors and pharmacists have full information about generic and brand-name drugs, indications and contraindications, drugs used in treatment with alternatives, caution before using drugs, drug interactions, side effects, drug form, and efficacy of the form that drug, the cost of treatment. Objectives: Assessment activities of medicine information and medicine information needs of medical staff (MS) at Can Tho City General Hospital by 2020. Materials and methods: MS with high school or higher qualifications are doing professional work in the clinical department Can Tho City General Hospital. Cross-sectional descriptive method has analysis from 06/2020 to 12/2020. Results: Surveyed 146 MS in 7 specialized faculties, in which there were 69 male staff, 77 women, 68 doctors participating in the study, accounting for 46.6% and 78 nurses 53.4%, the most being the emergency resuscitation department with 29 staff members (19.9%) and the 33staff intensive care-poisoning department (22.6%), Department of Anesthesia and resuscitation 21 staff (14.,4%). Most MS evaluated that the response to contraction was normal and good, accounting for 94.4%. The time for staff to update and respond to DI every day accounts for 41.8%, The form of DI exchange is mainly based on books, magazines, 49.3% and drug instructions. 47.9%, and the essential level of DI for the job, of which the very necessary level in doctors accounts for 46.7% and nurses 53.3%. Conclusion: The rate of response to good DI is good at 58,9%, normal 35.5% and not good 5.6%. DI mainly used hand-out materials accounted for 55.5% and briefings accounted for 52.7%. Very necessary levels of the need for drug information centers account for 70.5% and essential levels 29.5%. The form of exchanging DI through specialized books, magazines 49.3%, and medicine guide sheets 47.9%. The essential level of DI for the work of doctors 46.7%, nurses 53.3%.
