Abstract

Background: Hypertension is common chronic disease. In order to avoid the consequences and complications of hypertension, blood pressure controlling is considered as a key in hypertensive management. However, hypertensive patients still do not perform effectively the health behaviors which recommended for hypertensive patients. Objectives: to evaluate and determin the related factors of health behaviors among hypertensive patients at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Materials and methods: The cross-sectional study design was applied on 90 hypertensive patients who treated at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Results: There were 31,1% of participants at good level, 20% at moderate level, 48,9% at low level. Patients who adhere with no smoking was highest with 74,4%, there were 62.2%, 51.1%,45.6% and 42.2% adhere with physical activity, diet, medication usage, alcohol consumption respectively. There were 40% patients adhering with weight management. Gender and educational level were found as related factors of health behaviors of hypertension while marital status was not a significant factor in adhering with health behaviors of hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Health behaviors adhering among hypertensive patients at Thai Nguyen National Hospital was still limited.
