Abstract

Background: Qi stagnation constitution in Traditional Medicine is a pathological state characterized by stagnation of Liver qi, influenced by psychosocial factors. Traditional Medicine students may be at higher risk due to academic pressure, but studies on its prevalence and associated factors remain limited. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of Qi stagnation constitution and identify associated factors among Traditional Medicine students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Materials and methods:  A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 315 students from June 2025 to April 2026. Results: The prevalence of Qi stagnation constitution was 43.5%. Logistic regression analysis revealed significant associations with female gender (OR = 1.74; 95%CI: 1.05-2.91; p = 0.032), lack of interest in the major (OR = 2.68; 95%CI: 1.45-4.95; p = 0.002), and late-night sleeping habits (OR = 3.02; 95%CI: 1.21-7.54; p = 0.018). Other variables showed no statistically significant associations (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Qi stagnation constitution is relatively common among Traditional Medicine students. Psychological factors and lifestyle habits, particularly late-night sleeping and academic interest, are significantly associated with Qi stagnation constitution. Early lifestyle intervention and psychological support strategies are recommended.
