Abstract

  Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition and remains one of the most frequently reported forms of median nerve entrapment. In Vietnam, carpal tunnel syndrome has attracted increasing research interest in recent years. The integration of Traditional Medicine with rehabilitation modalities in the management of carpal tunnel syndrome is still limited, although this approach offers advantages in terms of safety and minimal adverse effects. Objectives: To evaluate the therapeutic outcomes of a traditional herbal capsule regimen combined with acupressure massage, paraffin therapy, and therapeutic ultrasound in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome at Tam Tri Dong Thap General Hospital during 2025–2026. Materials and methods: The study included 61 inpatients treated at Tam Tri Dong Thap General Hospital. The study was designed as an uncontrolled clinical trial (single-arm interventional study). Results: After 14 days of treatment, Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire scores, including the Symptom Severity Scale (SSS) and Functional Status Scale (FSS), showed statistically significant improvement (p < 0.01); 93.4% of patients returned to normal SSS levels and 80.3% achieved normal FSS levels at day 14 (N14). Conclusions: The Khang Minh Phong Thap Nang treatment regimen combined with acupressure massage, paraffin therapy, and therapeutic ultrasound demonstrated significant efficacy in pain reduction, symptom improvement, and restoration of nerve conduction function in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.
