Đặt vấn đề: Hàn Quốc đang bước vào giai đoạn già hóa dân số nhanh, kéo theo nhiều thách thức về chăm sóc và duy trì khả năng độc lập ở người cao tuổi. Suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày làm gia tăng nhu cầu hỗ trợ dài hạn và có thể liên quan đến các yếu tố kinh tế-xã hội. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu: Xác định tỷ lệ suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày và mô tả một số đặc điểm ở người cao tuổi có suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày. Đối tượng và phương pháp nghiên cứu: Nghiên cứu cắt ngang trên 4.491 người từ 65 tuổi trở lên sử dụng dữ liệu từ Nghiên cứu Dọc về Già hóa tại Hàn Quốc năm 2022. So sánh giữa các nhóm được thực hiện bằng kiểm định Chi-square và Mann– Whitney U. Kết quả: Tỷ lệ suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày là 7,2%; trong đó khó khăn khi tắm rửa chiếm tỷ lệ cao nhất (6,3%). Nhóm suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày có trình độ tiểu học hoặc thấp hơn chiếm tỷ lệ cao (71,1%), hầu như không tham gia hoạt động kinh tế (98,4%) và tỷ lệ sa sút trí tuệ cao hơn (21,1%) so với nhóm không suy giảm. Trong nhóm suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày, nữ giới có tuổi trung vị cao hơn nam giới (86 so với 84), trình độ tiểu học hoặc thấp hơn (84,9%) và sống đơn thân (40,5%) cao hơn. Nam giới có tỷ lệ hút thuốc (59,8%) và uống rượu (76,1%) cao hơn. Kết luận: Nhóm suy giảm hoạt động sinh hoạt hằng ngày ghi nhận tỷ lệ cao hơn ở tuổi cao và yếu thế về mặt kinh tế – xã hội. Kết quả gợi ý cần ưu tiên hỗ trợ phụ nữ cao tuổi sống đơn thân và tăng cường phát hiện, can thiệp sa sút trí tuệ nhằm giảm nguy cơ phụ thuộc chức năng.
