EVALUATING THE RESULT OF TREATMENT THE ADHESIVE OTITIS MEDIA BY USING ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY AT CAN THO EAR NOSE THROAT HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Adhesive otitis is a chronic otitis media that consists of the adhesion of the tympanic membrane to the promontory. The purpose of the surgery reconstructs the tympanic cavity, ventilate and restore the functioning of the ossicles. Objectives: To evaluate the results of endoscopic surgery to treat adhesive otitis media. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive, prospective study with intervention on 46 patients with adhesive otitis media who were treated endoscopic surgery at Can Tho Ear Nose Throat Hospital. Results: The mean ABG after surgery is 18.8 ± 8 dB, ABG recovery after surgery 11.1 dB, recurrent adhesion is one case (2.2%), perforation at the position of the ventilation tube and otorrhea is one case (2.2%), no cases of paralysis, dizziness, bleeding after surgery. Conclusion: Endoscopic surgery to treat adhesive otitis media achieves four goals: restoring eustachian ventilation, restoring space to the middle ear, restoring the ossicles and reconstructing the fibrous layer of the tympanic membrane.
